Welcome to Desford Striders 
Running Club

Desford Striders has a long and proud history of supporting runners of all ages, sizes and abilities, having been founded in 1991.


In the very first club newsletter, the stated aim was “to bring together runners of differing age and experience to form a club that will appeal to marathon runners and complete beginners alike.” More than 30 years later, nothing has changed! Our objective remains the same and we now have over 200 members of all ages and abilities.

 
We are an England Athletics affiliated running club offering friendly and supportive running.

**JOIN STRIDERS**

If you've ever thought about running and ruled out joining a club because you're not just good or fast enough, Desford Striders is the place for you! We cater for runners of all abilities and ages and fulfil the needs of both serious and competitive runners and fun or social runners.


We also hold regular social events for our members, friends and families.


If you are new to running, have run before and want to return or just want to improve your health and fitness, we are an all-inclusive club and arrange both training sessions and club runs to suit all abilities.


We also regularly run Couch to 5K programmes and further details can be found by visiting our Couch to 5K page - the next one starts on Monday 15 January 2024.

Subscriptions are as follows:

  • Annual Fee Adult £32.00 (1 April 2024– 31 March 2025)

  • Half Year Membership Adult £25.00 (starts September 1 2024 – 31 March 2025)


These prices are annual fees and they include membership to Sport In Desford (not the gym) and the cost of Affiliation to England Athletics).

Desford Striders are based at Sport in Desford (SiD). SiD’s aim is to provide reasonably priced sporting and recreational facilities for the people of Desford and surrounding areas and is a Registered Charity (No. 1100319),

All Striders sessions can be booked using the Spond app. Scan this QR code to take you to the app. You will need to set up your own profile and input the code 'RTIHC' when prompted to be able to view and book onto sessions. You are welcome to come along to 2 sessions before deciding whether to become a member. 

Please speak to the Run Leader on arrival to make them aware you are a potential new member and have joined the group on a trial basis.
